Terms and conditions

What applies when you buy, rent or commission a work. Kept short, and written to be read.

Who you are dealing with

doroART is the sole proprietorship of Dorota Roszkowska, a visual artist in Arnhem, Chamber of Commerce number 09098141. Work is sold, rented and made by her directly. There is no gallery or reseller in between.

These terms apply to everything agreed through this site: buying a work, a commission, a rental from the rental collection, and a workshop.

Prices

Prices are in euros and include 9% VAT, the rate that applies to art in the Netherlands. It is what a private buyer pays; business buyers receive an invoice showing the VAT separately.

The amounts given for sizes and commissions on this site are indications. Work made to measure gets its own price, in a proposal beforehand.

Shipping and installation are separate from the price of the work and are agreed on their own.

Buying and paying

A sale is made once a proposal or an order is confirmed in writing. An email is enough for that.

Payment is by bank transfer unless something else is agreed. The work remains the property of the artist until it has been paid for in full.

Commissioned work

A commission starts with a conversation about the room, and then a proposal with size, colour, price and lead time. Once that is agreed a deposit of 50% of the agreed price follows, and the commission begins.

A commissioned work is made for your room and is therefore made to measure. The right of withdrawal does not apply to it.

What happens within those agreements, in colour and in composition, remains the artist’s work. A commission is an agreement about starting points, not an order for an image.

Art rental

Work from the rental collection is rented for an agreed period and remains the property of the artist.

While it is with you, look after it as you would your own: indoors, out of direct sunlight, and not in a damp room. Damage or loss is settled together.

If you decide to buy the work, the rent you have paid counts towards the price. On a swap or a return the work goes back in the state it arrived in, ordinary wear aside.

Delivery and installation

Small work is shipped or delivered in person. Larger works and acoustic series are delivered and installed by arrangement; for large works the artist comes along.

Shipping and installation costs are named beforehand, so you know them before you agree to anything.

A stated lead time is an expectation, not a guarantee. If it runs over, you hear about it in time.

Right of withdrawal

If you buy as a consumer at a distance, meaning without having seen the work in the studio or at an exhibition, you have fourteen days to change your mind, counted from the day after delivery. Within that period you can undo the purchase without giving a reason. An email is enough.

The work goes back in the state it arrived in, and the cost of returning it is yours. What you paid is refunded within fourteen days of your notice.

The right of withdrawal does not apply to work made to measure or on commission, nor to a purchase made in the studio or at an exhibition.

Copyright

Copyright in the work stays with the artist. You buy the work itself, not the right to reproduce it, print it or use its image commercially.

Sharing a photograph of the work in your own home or office is always fine. Use in a publication, a campaign or a production needs permission. It is rarely refused, but it is asked.

If something goes wrong

If something is not right, say so as soon as you can, with photographs if it is damage. You will have a considered answer within fourteen days.

Dutch law applies to every agreement. If we cannot resolve it together, the courts remain open.

Changes

If these terms change, the version that applied when the agreement was made is the one that counts. Last updated on 3 September 2026.
